Indonesia May Return To 5% Biodiesel Mandate
11.14.07
Indonesia plans to return to a 5% biodiesel blend in diesel within the next three years on expectations of rising palm oil and jatropha production, Energy Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said.
State-owned oil firm Pertamina had cut the biodiesel blend to 2.5% due to rising palm oil prices.
"We will gradually increase biodiesel blend to 5% by 2010. Production of palm oil and jatropha will be increasing by then," Yusgiantoro told reporters. He said Indonesia expects to produce about 17 million tons of crude palm oil this year, rising to 20 million tons by 2010.
