Bank Bailouts Spread Through Europe
10.06.08
Stocks tumbled around the world, the Euro fell the most against the Yen since its debut, and oil dropped below $90 a barrel as the credit market seizure caused bank bailouts to spread through Europe, Bloomberg reported Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped below 10,000 for the first time since October 2004, Europe's Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index had its largest intraday decline since 1987, and the value of the 19 commodities in the Reuters-Jefferies CRB Index fell $280.6 billion, a loss larger than their total worth two years ago.
