Corn Prices Up On US Flooding

06.19.08

The Mississippi River surged past levees Thursday in the worst US Midwest floods in 15 years.

Floods in Iowa may have destroyed over one million acres of corn and two million acres of soybeans, the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation said.

The flooding has caused corn prices to reach record highs and Cargill has declared Force Majeure on its corn syrup contracts.
