Argentine Farmers to Rally May 25
05.19.08
In Argentina, the four farmer associations which have coordinated the strike put forward a new proposal today. Eduardo Buzzi, leader of the Argentine Agrarian Federation, which represents the critical constituency of small-scale farmers, told reporters Sunday that the farmers felt they needed to make a gesture to "pacify the nation.”
They said will continue with plans for a massive farmer rally on May 25, Argentina's national day, in the symbolically important locale of the national flag monument in Rosario City, a key grain exporting port, Dow Jones reports.
