$2.2 Billion Canadian Biofuel Bill Expected to Pass
05.02.08
Canada's $2.2 billion biofuel package now before the House of Commons is expected to pass but will require a parliamentary committee review in one year of the environmental and economic impacts triggered by the 5% requirement by 2010.
The mandate would create demand for an estimated 528 million gallons of ethanol and 158.5 million gallons of biodiesel, and provide biofuel producers with subsidies of $1.47 billion or about $0.72 per gallon.
