UK Adopts 2.5% Biofuel Mandate
04.15.08
Biofuel industry leaders in the UK have embarked on a major initiative to dispel what they say are myths about biofuels as the nation prepares for the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) going into effect today.
A spokesman for the Renewable Energy Association said that there has been a great deal of misinformation about biofuels lately, but the campaign will ensure that the public have access to accurate, accessible information about biofuels, and the benefits they offer.
British motorists are expected to use an estimated 1million mt of biofuel worth $2.2 billion in the first year of the RTFO, when a 2.5% obligation is in force.
