France Will Stay With Higher Ethanol Blend
04.08.08
Following a decision by Germany to cancel its plans to increase the amount of ethanol blended into gasoline next year from E5 to E10 due to concerns about effects on older car engines, the president of France says his country will stay with its target of blending 7% ethanol and biodiesel into petroleum fuels.
“This policy will be maintained,” declared President Nicolas Sarkozy. An ethanol industry spokesman said France has dealt with the E10 issue by requiring labels on all E10 pumps whenever the blend is sold.
