01.17.08
In India, the government had designated four companies (D1 Mohan Oils, Shiva Distilleries, Dharani Sugars and Chemicals, and Riverway Agro Products) to grow jatropha on a large scale for biodiesel production.
In a recently announced industrial policy, the government offered a 50% subsidy on planting material, exempted jatropha seeds from the purchase tax, and exempted the oil from VAT for 10 years from the date of commercial production. According to the general manager of D1 Mohan Oils, the company has started jatropha oil extraction on a pilot basis.
