EU Commission Reiterates Biofuels Support

The European Commission President responded to criticism from member states of Commission proposals to promote biofuels and renewable energy by telling the European Parliament that the EU must “put our money where our mouth is.”
He said it was clear from the beginning that “transforming Europe into a low-carbon economy is not an easy task, but this is the moment to be serious, responsible and coherent with our commitment.”
By taking the lead in fighting climate change, the EU would gain “first mover advantage” for its industries and in clean energy technologies; increase economic competitiveness and create jobs.
