Global Grain Use May Outpace Supply

Examining the outlook for food supplies, the London-based International Grains Council reported that global stocks would be drawn down further in 2008 as consumption will outpace output.
The largest increase in consumption will be in the biofuels sector, with the amount of grain (mainly corn/maize) used to produce ethanol projected to reach100 million tons, an increase of 44% from the previous year.
