IEA Cuts Oil Demand Forecast

06.29.09

The International Energy Agency cut its five-year forecast for crude demand by about 3 million barrels a year, predicting consumption will not regain 2008 levels until 2012.

However, oil supply capacity will grow by 4 mb/d during 2008-2014 with the bulk from OPEC and global biofuels (biofuels output expected to increase from 1.5 mb/d in 2008 to 2.2 mb/d in 2014, with global biofuel capacity attaining over 3 mb/d), IEA reports.
