Research Shows Jatropha Not 'Wasteland' Biofuel Crop

05.20.09

According to Indian government researchers, Jatropha plants will grow on wasteland, but in order to retain a high yield the plants must be well tended as Jatropha on marginal land yields less than 200g of oil per plant, and 4kg if raised on fertilized farm land.

The report also states that the oil currently costs $7.90/gal.
