US Farm Bill Stalled Again
11.19.07
A cloture motion to force a vote on the 2007 Farm Bill failed in the US Senate last week, falling short of the 60 votes required to end debate. Observers say this throws into question whether Congress will be able to complete work on the Farm Bill this year.
The US House Majority Leader said lawmakers have not reached agreement on a compromise Energy Bill, but still plan to bring the legislation to the floor next month in some form. He said ‘big ticket’ items, including renewable fuels, still must be worked out. Congress is breaking for a two-week recess, returning on December 3rd.
