GLOBAL

Crude oil advanced $0.83, 1.6%, to $52.90 a barrel in after-hours trading on the NYMEX as the dollar’s decline reduced the price of commodities for non-US buyers and made hard assets more attractive as a hedge against inflation, Bloomberg reported Monday.

Soybeans for May delivery added $0.28, 2.9%, to $9.80 a bushel in electronic trading on the CBOT, lifted by speculation that demand for US crops may increase as Argentine farmers plan to halt sales for a week to protest against export taxes.
